Performed legal services for Sir John Clerk of Penicuik (NRS GD18/1631, GD18/4091, GD18/5678, GD18/6192), and acted as deputy-collector for Bishops' rents in Scotland (NRS E221/2/3). Probable member of Forbes's Leith congregation (Registers of the Episcopal Congregation in Leith, 1733-1775, pp. 37, 38, 40).
