John Gray of Rogart

John Gray acquired Rogart through his marriage to Rachel Munro in 1733, with whom he had two daughters: Elizabeth and Isabel. Rogart was sold to the Earl of Sutherland in 1762 (see Beard, "Satire and Social Change, p. 4). Gray seems to have turned evidence to avoid transportation (Prisoners of the '45, vol. 2, pp. 266-67).
