Mr ✝ JasJames Falconar to me R:Robert F:Forbes
As to the History you mention, I have
the Materials by me but by reason of
ScarsityScarcity of Paper and the Inconveni-
ency of writtingwriting when aboard they
are in Such Confusion that it will
take more Time than I can well
spare at present before I can bring
them to such an order as would af-
ford any Satisfaction to a person who
loves accuracy &and perspicuity qhwhich should
allwise be the Concomitants of such
performances. As to the dates I can-
not pretend to any Satisfactory exact-
ness in them, for many of the facts
happen'dhappened when I neither had nor
could get a Bit of Paper; So was
often obligdobliged to wait for several
weeks together before I could take
a Note of the OccurrencysOccurrences which
I would otherwise have Set down
daily as they happened. If I were to
meet with Clanranald who kept an
exact Journal of the most trifflingtrifling
things that happened, to himself e-
specially, he might help me out in a

a good many instances, but this I can-
not expect at Such a Distance from
his Court. He is a man of Sense,
but as proud as Lucifer, he was no
small Addition to our Sufferings.
