From John Farquharson of Aldlerg,

“Dunkerque,
“April 30. 1771.
Your old Friend has made ysthis Year
“several large Excursions, &and has been nobly enter-
“tain’d
entertained
where’erewherever he went. He keeps his health
“very well, wou’dwould be glad to see you &and some oyrsothers
“of his Friends, &and only wants yethe Opportunity of Giv-
“ing
you convincing Proofs of his Regard. You
“may assure his Mother, he is not that ungrate-
“ful
, debauched Child he was represented
“to her. He is now fairly turned Physician, &and
“has made this Year several wond’rouswondrous Cures;
“particularly One of a Princess, looked upon in-
“curable
. This has been of Service to him, adds
“greatly to his Character, &and has given him the
“Name of the miraculous Doctor; for he uses
“no kind of drugs, known to other Doctors; &and yet
“so simple is his Cure, that every Bodyeverybody may
“have it. I’m sorry, I have no kind of News to
“divert you with, only the French King &and his
“Parliaments are in very bad terms; but he will
“certainly get the better, as he has 200,000
“horned Beasts at his Command, who will
“stick as close to him, as a burr wou’dwould stick to
“your President’s Parliament-Piruick.” Re-
ceived
May 29. 1771.
N.B. Transmitted Copy of the Above to
B.Bishop G.Gordon with some hints, to have it inserted in
some of the News-papersNewspapers at London, May 31.
