Copy of a Letter to Mr Ro-
bert Forbes at My Lady
Bruce's Lodgings Leith.
DrDear Sir,
Wishing, from my whole
Heart, that these may find you &and
all your Leith Friends in good
Health, I have had a little bit
Fever some Days past; but, God
be blessed, I am now in good
Health, Heart &and Spirits; and,
if it is my Fate to goego to the
Scaffold, I dare say, that I’ll
goego to Death, as a Christian &and
a Man of Honour ought to do.
But it is possible, that a broken
ill-us’dused Major may be a Colo-
nel before he dies. You’ll
make my Compliments to My
Lady Bruce, Mr Clerk’s Family,
but Miss Mally in particular, &and
the rest of the honest Folks in
that City, &and accept of the same
from him, who is with the greatest
Sincerity, Affection &and Esteem,
