Copy of part of a Letter to the
RevdReverend Mr James Hay in Inver-
ness. In this Vol: p: 1463 — 1466.
My dear Sir,
I gladly embrace this Oppor-
tunity to acknowledge your Favours of DecrDecember
29th; upon Receipt of which I immediately
writwrote to Mr Baillie, begging him to bring
Mr Grant to my House, which I would
value as a particular Favour. Mr Bail-
lie in Return writwrote me, that the said Mr
Grant had returned to Inverness before
Christmas. This indeed proved a great
Disappointment to me, as I was not a
little anxious to have an Interview wtwith
Mr Grant, to whom, I beg, you may pre-
sent my best Wishes, &and tell him, I will
deem it a singular obligation, if he will
favour me with a Visit any Time he hap-
pens to be in or about EdrEdinburgh. By this you
see, that the whole Burden lies upon you
yet, which I am sorry for; but I rely upon
your Goodness to procure all the satisfy-
ing answers you can to my Queries, which
will prove very useful.
