L.Lady G.Gask

“April 13. 1769.
Yours of
March 9. came safe to hand. I own
the Copy you give of the Letter dis-
tresses
me much, as I think there is
an Air of Truth in it. I had a Letter
from my Friends (Mar.March 7.) lately, qowho,
thank God, seem to be pretty well
in their Healths, &and think of leav-
ing
Naples about this Time. They
propose coming by Venice, to make
the Journey the longer, as travel-
ling
is the chief Medicine pre-
scrib’d
prescribed
for the Asthma. God grant
it may have ^the desired Effect. They
write thus. “Miss Murray of Polmais,
whom you mention, is turn’dturned Roman
CatholickCatholic. Her Cousin Miss Peg-
gie
is perfectly well, &and a lovely
Lass; but finds, I imagine, a proper
Settlement for her difficult.”— Now,
you see there is no Light about
these Stories that go upon that poor
Girl
. I cannot say I expected it.”
