To B.Bishop G.Gordon
I am glad, the Pre-
sents of Cookery came safe to hand. If a New Dress ^appears,
could a Copy be obtained for a Friend? I would be
well pleased to have one. Might it not be fit
&and proper to transmit an Account of some of yethe Cru-
elties committed at a certain Time? A Specimen
of these you have in A Copy of a Letter from a
Gentleman in London to his Friend at Bath.
Lond.London Sept.September 17. 1750. said to be printed at Bath. The
TaylorTailor, who, if I mistake not, is married on
a Daughter of Mr Bettenham’s. It contains
Truths, that can to this Day be well vouch’dvouched;
and, perhaps, it might be of Use to give
this likewise a new Dress. Tumet esto Ju-
dex. I am heartily sorry, there is no Word
of the Marriage. I &and others long much to
hear of it. May it be speedy &and happy.
ChearCheer me, Dear Sir, with good News, if
you can.”
