Copy of a Return.
To yours of July. the Countess ar-
rived
safe on Friday, the 4th instant,
in Spirits &and good Looks, like yethe Eagle,
renewing her Age, God be thanked.

Her Ladyship makes frequent Men-
tion
of You &and good Mrs Gordon wtwith
Kindness &and Esteem.
Thanks for the amount of the Act
at Oxford.
Mr Innes &and his Family set out u-
pon
their Return to AbdAberdeen, on Wednes-
day
, the 2d instant. The Journey
seems to have done them Good.
Your Opinion of America, I am
persuaded, is very just. The bloody
Work is begun; but God only knows,
how &and when it will end. Forgiveness, as
you observe, will readily interfere.
Divide et impera, is the Maxim
in all such Cases, though mischievous
enough.
Along with this you have some
Occurences which may add a little
to your Entertainment.
Gray Cooper Secretary to the Trea-
sury
at London prides himself in
being reckoned as Scotsman, as de-
scended
of Scots progenitors; &and now
has obtained his Wish by an attest-
ed
proof of six concurring Evidences.
God be wtwith you &and yours, now &and evermore.
A Dieu,
Dear Sir,
A Dieu.
