Declaration for Gray Cooper, EsqrEsquire,
Secretary to the Treasury at London.
Leith, July 28. 1775.

I have often heard Dame Magda-
lene
Scott
, Relict of Sir William
Bruce of Kinross
, narrate, It con-
sisted
with her Knowledge, that
Cooper of Gogar was the first
Gentleman in Scotland, who had
a Coach of his own at the Cross
of Edinburgh
.
The said Lady Bruce died at the
Citadel of Leith, June 24. 1752.
in the 82d year of her Age;
so that the Year of her Birth
must have been 1670.
