be much out of my dutieduty in not writ-
ting Sooner to you but you may be-
livebelieve I am not unmindfullunmindful of any

wou’dwould be usefulluseful to you, The follow-
ing is a Summary of Certain Deso-
lations made betwixt yethe Rivers of
Spey &and Dee in yethe year 1746, in Ba-
denoch was burntburned Clunie Mcpher-
son’s house &and Garvamore’s. In Strath-
down, Glenbuckit’s at Cambetel-
bredgit, DonldDonald PharqursonFarquharson’s of Auch-
riachan’s, at Glenconlass, his house;
&and Jo.nJohn Grant in Innerlochie’s; Ja.sJames
Grant Miller in Inchnachape; &and
Lauchland Dooll in Easter jaslick,
their dwelling houses. In Glenli-
vet, Bowchel-hall &and Scallan, yethe
whole houses; Jo.nJohn Gordon’s in Clas-
Noir, his dwelling house; the house
&and Chapple Chapel1 at Tombae; &and Blair-
phinie, his house &and a poor man’s
house at upper-downen; In Skuir-
dustan — Gordon younger of Aber-

According to another source, the chapel escaped destruction (Roberts, "Scalan Destroyed," p. 97).

The language is unclear here, but Stewart is perhaps stating that the miller's name was Smiston.
I.e., devastations.
