“Bath Octr 1. 1772. If any thinganything I send
will amuse B.Bishop Forbes &and you, so much yethe
better; if not, you may dispose of them
as you please. Tell him, I have a great
Collection of MSSManuscripts, which were lately
given me, &and which I am now looking
over. These, added to what I had be-
fore
, take up a great deal of Room:
And, tho’though there are many things among
them, which I much value, yet, I doubt,
when I am dead &and gone, nobody else
will ever be at the trouble of read-
ing
them. The Person,✝ whose they were,
was at Rome in 1749, &and that Year saw
the Cardinal of York’s Mitra pretiosa,
which is made of Cloth of Gold, with
gold Flowers, &and near 100 Diamonds, be-
sides
SaphiresSapphires. Emeralds, &and Pearls u-
pon
it, &and is valued at 36000 Roman
Crowns, or £9000 sterling, with his
own Arms, &and 2 or 3 Diamonds on each
of the Strings.
