From B.Bishop G.Gordon recdreceived only on Sunday
Evening, NovrNovember 20.
1774.
The Countess of Galloway,
who does me the Honour to be the
Bearer of this, I recommend to
your good Offices &and Advice. Her
Ladyship is ^lately returned from France,
where She had been to attend her
Lord, who died at Aix in Provence.
Her Ladyship, from her Conversation
&and Behaviour, appears to be of sound
good Principles both in Church and
State, tho’though, alas! her Children from
the Example of their Father &and the 2076 (2076) Converse &and Habit of an evil &and
excessively corrupt World, are gone
but too much into Way of it;
so that the good Lady seems to
stand alone, yet firm &and constant
in the principles of Virtue &and Reli-
gion. Her Ladyship has attended
my Chapel close ever since her
coming to Town. I must not omit
telling you, Lady Galloway is in-
timately acquainted with our wor-
thy Friend, Mr Bowdler, who
happens to be new in London, &and
sends his best Respects.

It was great Joy to me indeed to
hear every Thingeverything went on so hap-
pily at Forfar; all Glory &and Thanks
be to God! Marvelous were the
Doings that Day of B.Bishop Raitt. No
Wonder, considering his greatly ad-
vanced Age, it should produce A-
mazement in all the Audience.
‘Tis Pity B.Bishop Killgour’s Situation wdwould
not permit him to be with you.
